EMDR Training and Consulting

EMDRIA APPROVED

Our EMDR training is taught by an EMDRIA Approved Trainer: Mary Lauren Taylor. The trainer’s approval status can be viewed on EMDRIA’s website: https://www.emdria.org/directory/people/mary-lauren-taylor/

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE TRAINING

The training will consist of 20 hours of didactic presentation, 20 hours of supervised practicum, and 10 hours of consultation (2 hours of consultation will occur after week 2 training). Case material is trauma focused. The practicum component will involve participants giving and receiving EMDR therapy under small group supervision. The practice is for educational purposes and not for personal therapy. During processing, a target memory could link to unexpected or disturbing material or memories. The processing of targeted memories could continue after the training and include additional related memories, emotions, thoughts, body sensations, and dreams. In this instance it is the responsibility of the participant seek and obtain appropriate assistance. Providing such assistance is not part of the training but the participant may request referrals for EMDR trained therapist or find a qualified EMDR trained therapist through EMDRIA. The completion of the training is for clinical purposes and does not qualify the participant to train others in EMDR therapy.

TRAINING ELIGIBILITY

A clinical background is necessary for the effective application of EMDR therapy. Attendance at the training is limited to social workers and mental health professionals who have a master’s degree or higher in the mental health field and are licensed, registered, or certified through a state or national board which authorizes independent practice.

Qualifying pre-licensed mental health clinicians must have a master’s degree in the mental health field and be actively pursuing a full license through their state board while working under an independently licensed supervisor. This includes LPC-Associates and LMFT-Associates.  Graduate student clinicians are eligible to enroll in the course if they have the approval of their clinical supervisor with the understanding that the participant’s integration of EMDR skills into clinical practice is an essential component of the 10 hours of EMDR therapy training consultation. Graduate students must have completed their core graduate coursework and be in the practicum/internship portion of their graduate program. Graduate students will need to provide a letter from their supervisor which includes the supervisor’s license information and number in order to verify their eligibility.

Here's what some of our participants have had to say about our trainings!

  • The training was so enjoyable and impactful. Due to the small size, it was very intimate which I enjoyed because it allowed more face to face interactions. I learned so much and feel well prepared to introduce EMDR to future and current clients. Not only did I learn from the trainer but also from the other participants 10/10 would recommend!                                                                                                                                                                                -Belinda H.

  • This EMDR training was amazing! I learned so much and had great experiences during practicum! Mary Lauren did a great job teaching, explaining, and encouraging us going through the EMDR phases!             -Heather S.

  • I really enjoyed this training and felt Mary Lauren provided great explanations (backed by research) to understand EMDR!                                                                                                                                                                -Isabelle L.
